It's a sad day.
Where does he come up with this stuff?
We took the boys to a Big Sibling Class at the hospital today. Seth was SO not looking forward to it and Zane had no idea what he was getting into. When we first walked in, we were told to grab a bag of supplies and a baby doll. You can imagine how this went over...our all boy household doesn't have very much experience with baby dolls, but they know enough to realize this is a GIRL'S toy!! They were very skeptical and made me hold the dolls. Ha!
We saw a silly video, learned about what toys a baby can play with, how to change diapers, how to swaddle, and how to hold a baby. We got to see the babies in the nursery and tour the hospital too. Zane (as usual) was the class clown shouting out sarcastic/silly remarks that went with the teachings (at least we know he was listening) and Seth just took it all in quietly. Seth took the "how to swaddle" and "how to change a diaper" parts with great interest. He takes his role as big brother seriously! Here's some pics of the class:
ARGH!! I hate to let so much time go by before I post because then I have so much to blog about at once!
Okay, let me just say that this picture is totally inappropriate for me to post on my blog. I know it is, and yet, I can't resist. I see this sign every month in the restroom when I go to the baby doctor and think it's hilarious. I've debated this whole pregnancy whether or not to share it with you and I just can't stand it anymore. So here it is:
I'm just sayin.....
On a slightly more appropriate note...
On Monday, we will have only six more weeks until the arrival of "baby girl". I can hardly believe it. This week, I have finally started to panic about being ready. She is getting so big that I'm starting to think we MUST be close to the end! I frequently feel a tiny foot stretching out/jabbing at the top of my belly. She already has a preference for what clothing I wear...she hates anything tight and constricting. This leaves my wardrobe quite limited, but if I do wear a pair of jeans with a band around or under my belly, she WILL NOT leave me alone until I take it off. I am learning her sleeping schedule based on her movements...it's so weird that there's a little bug-a-boo growing inside my big 'ol belly. She sleeps most of the day and wakes up at around 10:30 p.m. (when I lay down and give her room). Let me tell you, it's like she's taking a gymnastics class in there...the movement is unbelievable! I don't remember the boys being so active all at once. She is responding to our voices...which is VERY cool! If she is busy doing gymnastics and Bobby starts speaking loud/passionately about something, she will stop what she is doing to listen for a minute and then slowly resume her cartwheels. Amazing.
At my last doctor's appt. the dr. said she still wanted to induce labor at 38 weeks (since we tend to make LARGE babies). That puts us inducing sometime the week of March 8th. YIKES!!
Anyway, here's a funny picture that I obviously took of myself while Bobby was at work. I'm not really sure what I was looking at, but yes, my belly is that large. Yes, I was oblivious to holding the camera with my pinky sticking out like that. Yes, I actually hold cups like that and yes, Bobby makes fun of it. ha!
P.S. Don't ask if we've picked a name yet. We're trying one out...sort of a test drive. I'll let you know how it goes. ha!
Zane turned four last weekend. It's very hard to believe my BABY is four years old! Sometimes I look at him and can't believe he is so big. I knew within a week of his birth that he was going to be an easy baby, but much more difficult as he grew up. I was proved correct throughout his baby years...he was so easy!! When it was time to go to bed, he just wanted to be put in his crib and left alone. When it came time for the "Terrible Twos", there was just no such thing!
Well, I'm here to tell you the little "stinker" in him has arrived! That sweet little innocent baby has turned into the most curious and sassy-mouthed boy. If your breath stinks, he'll tell you. If his chicken is taking too long at a restaurant, he'll blurt out to the waitress faster than I can stop him, "How come my chicken's taking so long?!?". This week, he actually called Seth a jerk! I had to give him a dose of "sassy sauce" and it nearly broke his heart (and mine!).
I say these things with a smile because at the same time, he is everyone's entertainment and such a charmer! Tonight, we were watching "ELF" and the movie came to the scene where the two main characters were out on a date. He shouted, "WHAT?! Are they in love or something? Why are they on a date?". I said, "They like to hang out with each other. Who do you like to hang out with?" Seth said, "Like Keira or what?" "No, I like to hang out with Mama." ~sigh~
What a boy! I'm just crazy about him!
Here's some pics of his birthday:
I haven't taken very many pregnant pictures this time around. (Who has time for taking pictures of themselves?!) I'm afraid this baby girl will wonder why there aren't any so Bobby took some tonight. I'll be 27 weeks on Monday.
Also, I just couldn't resist putting a picture of the view from up here...I can't see my feet anymore. Notice the stuff on the floor? Well, I would pick it up, but it's awfully hard to get there from up here.
Would you believe I am sixth months pregnant tomorrow with a BABY GIRL and haven't bought anything pink?!
Weird, I know.
It's like I'm in shock about it.
I remember waiting when I was pregnant with Zane until the last month to say, "Hmm...I wonder if I need to purchase anything new for this baby." Well, I am just now starting to wonder about that again...esp. since this is a girl!
You know how it is...when you have your first baby you want to register for EVERYTHING. For the second, you have all that stuff "leftover" to use especially if they are the same sex. Well, this one is our third and it's a SHE! The blue infant car seat has expired from the time "they" say you should use them. The matching blue stroller from the set is long worn out. The washcloths are used up and gone. I think we still have one blue baby towel left. All the blankets are blue. The bedding is blue. The diaper bags are long gone too. There's a bouncy seat in the attic, I think. The old exersaucer is in the garage. So how much of this should we replace? How much of it do we really need? (Sorry baby girl, but you are number three.....) Plus there's new stuff out there like the Bumbo seat (did I get that right?) We've had baby carriers, but never the much coveted Bjorn carrier. Should we splurge and get the good stuff this time? Several people have offered for us to borrow things...this makes me very happy. (She should have cute, pink things...right? It's not her fault that she's number three.) We've been offered a pink car seat and some pink ladybug crib bedding. We've been offered bows ga-lore!! That's funny to me. It makes me laugh. I'm not sure I am a "bow mom". It's like being mom to a girl is a cult...and there are bows involved. Guess I'll have to wait to find out more about that one.
Anyway, I wanted to talk about diaper bags...do third babies get diaper bags? We had a cool Eddie Bauer one for Seth and a sleek looking backpack for Zane. What kind of diaper bag do you get for a third baby who happens to be a girl? There's so many things to think about: big or small (with the boys, we had HUGE ones...is this really necessary?) Bobby has to carry it sometimes (will it take away his manhood to carry a pink, girly one?) should it be cool for me or cute for her?
These are the crazy things running around in my head.
Any thoughts?
(Other than I'm crazy...Megan)
Bobby and I are trying to come up with a name for this sweet baby girl who's coming in March.
This is hard.
Seriously.
I was in Arlington a few weeks ago when a friend asked me what my colors for her were going to be.
WHAT?! I have to name this baby girl AND pick colors? Holy moly!
With Seth, it was easy. We actually loved the meaning of his name before we loved the name. You see, we had a miscarriage before getting pregnant with him so when we found out the meaning of Seth, it fit. It's found in Genesis 4:25. It says, "...and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel." In a baby name book back then, we found it stated, "God has given us another child to replace the one we lost." See? It was perfect!
With Zane, it wasn't AS easy because we were expecting a name to "speak" to us like Seth's had.
Well, it didn't.
We knew we liked uncommon names, but not freakishly weird names. Bobby brought up the name Zane. I didn't love it at first, but it was the only name that was really even a serious competitor for a long time so he just BECAME Zane. ha!
Now, I can't imagine him as anything else...haha! He is soooo Zane!!
For this baby, we are having quite the time agreeing. I love the name Quinn, but Bobby is totally not sold on it and I don't think it's going to happen in the few months left. We both like Claire and it seems to fit our rule about being fairly uncommon but not freakishly weird. We also both like Olivia Grace "Livvy", but it's on the top ten list in the U.S for popularity.....this doesn't fit our rule at all! We both like Ava, but again with the top ten list...Then there's Lola. Lola Grace. Bobby loves Lola, but I'm not sure. How are we ever going to decide? I know what you're thinking....we have plenty of time. I agree, but I sure would like to start calling her something now!
~*Disclaimer~*
Bobby is afraid you will sway me by your comments...so I'm just going to go ahead and put a disclaimer that whatever great name you're about to share with me may not end up being her name. Doesn't mean we're not still BFF's.
Isn't he just a cutie patootie? I mean, seriously...who doesn't love a Kindergartner dressed in Indian garb?!
